Man arrested after fatal Offaly hit-and-run
A man has been arrested this evening in connection with a fatal hit and run in Co Offaly overnight. The man, who is in his 50s, is being held at Tullamore garda station.
The incident happened in the early hours of this morning when a man in his 20s was struck by a car on the Killeigh Road in Tullamore.
He was taken to hospital but was later pronounced dead.
The man who is being questioned was arrested this evening.
Meanwhile in Co Meath, gardaí are renewing their appeal for witnesses after a woman was killed in a car crash early this morning.
The woman n in her 40s died following in a single car crash at Ballinagun, shortly after midnight.
