Baines happy to stay at Goodison

Everton full-back Leighton Baines has “no intentions of leaving the club” despite being heavily linked with German champions Bayern Munich.

Bayern have been chasing the 26-year-old for some time and watched Baines score in Everton’s 2-1 win at Manchester City on Monday night.

Reports in Germany suggest the Bavarians will make a £9m bid in the January window but the former Wigan man is adamant he will honour the five-year deal he signed over the summer.

He told the Liverpool Daily Post: “I haven’t seen too much of the speculation, I don’t know too much about it.

“I am just concentrating on trying to play for Everton.

“I have just signed a new contract and I tied myself to the club in the summer and I have no intentions at the moment of leaving the club.

“I am not looking elsewhere and I am completely focused on what I am doing here and I have only just committed myself to the club.”

Bayern are in the market for a left-back with coach Louis van Gaal not convinced by Diego Contento, who has been playing there following Philipp Lahm’s switch to the right.
