Thousands of people have lined the streets of Adelaide to pay tribute to cricketer Sir Donald Bradman.

Thousands of people have lined the streets of Adelaide to pay tribute to cricketer Sir Donald Bradman.

Sir Donald, who died on Sunday at 92, had a Test batting average of 99.94.

About 100 invited mourners, including Australian Prime Minister John Howard and Governor-General Sir William Deane, attended a private service at a cemetery chapel.

The hearse left a funeral parlour on the fringe of the city for a 35-minute journey to the cemetery in the southern suburbs.
