Gardaí have arrested a 24-year-old man in connection with the death of a young man in Co Clare.

Gardaí have arrested a 24-year-old man in connection with the death of a young man in Co Clare.

The dead man's body was found in the garden of a house on O'Gorman Street in Kilrush at around 10.30am today.

He is believed to have suffered gunshot wounds, but no further details have been disclosed.

A 24-year-old man handed himself into garda custody shortly before 1pm in connection with the death.

Gardaí said they have recovered a firearm.

The man is being detained at Kilrush garda station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
