Online application system for student grants opens

The body charged with awarding grants to students has announced its online application system for the academic year 2015 to 2016 is now open.

It is the fourth year of the SUSI system, and the service is expected to receive more than 110,000 applications in the upcoming academic year.

They say they have introduced a number of key improvements, including the earlier application opening date and a redesigned website.

SUSI has come under fire recently, after it emerged they granted €4m worth of grants to ineligible students in their first year of operation.
