Rule Of Law has been ruled out of tomorrow’s King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot.
The Godolphin colt, a fast-finishing second to North Light in the Vodafone Derby, has a low-grade upper respiratory infection.
Trainer Saeed Bin Suroor said: “He’s out because we found the horse was not right this morning.
“We’ll find another race for him, possibly the Irish Derby. He would have to be supplemented. We’ll consider it but we’ll see how he is first.”
The field for the ‘Ascot Derby’ could be reduced to five tomorrow as Peter Chapple-Hyam’s African Dream only runs if there is rain.
Elshadi beat one home in the premier Classic at Epsom but trainer Marcus Tregoning believes that the son of Cape Cross can put that run behind him.
It was Elshadi’s first run of the campaign and he had beaten Derby third Let The Lion Roar at Newbury last September.
“Hopefully he’ll run a much better race than last time,” said Tregoning.
“He absolutely hated it. Some horses don’t act at Epsom and although I’d worked him round there and he seemed fine, it’s different when you’re being bumped and bored with that many runners.
“He seems in fine form and we know he goes on fast ground so I’m hoping for a better run from him this time.”
Aidan O’Brien is also hopeful of a big run from Five Dynasties following his eighth to Blue Canari in the French Derby.
“He’s in good form. He ran well in France. He’s improving – he’s coming. He’s starting to get it together,” he said.
