A man was remanded in custody today after being charged with the murder of a teenager in Northern Ireland.

A man was remanded in custody today after being charged with the murder of a teenager in Northern Ireland.

Stephen David Anthony Magee, 23, from Erinvale Terrace in Banbridge, is accused of murdering Christopher Finnegan, 17, early on Thursday morning.

The teenager, who had been stabbed in the chest, was found lying in the road in Erinvale Terrace after a house party.

He died after being taken to hospital 15 miles away in Newry.

The accused arrived at Newry Magistrates’ Court with his head covered. He spoke only to confirm his name and age.

A detective sergeant told the court that when the charge was put to Magee he made no reply.

He was remanded in custody to appear again on August 12.
