An Israeli man was killed today by fire from at least one passing car as he drove in the northern West Bank, the army said.

A passenger driving with him was slightly wounded, the army said.

The army said the attack took place near the Israeli community of Hermesh, south west of the West Bank town of Jenin.

Initial reports suggest the gunmen may have followed the vehicle for some distance before opening fire, the army said. The attackers escaped.
