Fire forces train to make emergency stop

A train was forced to make an emergency stop in Co. Galway today after a fire broke out on one of its undercarriages.

A train was forced to make an emergency stop in Co. Galway today after a fire broke out on one of its undercarriages.

The Dublin-bound train caught fire shortly after leaving Ceannt Station at 3.05pm this afternoon.

Passengers were forced to evacuate near Athenry, while emergency services put the blaze out.

The cause of the fire is n0t yet known, but all 260 passengers escaped unhurt.
