Gardaí arrest man in connection with Cork death

A man has been arrested in connection with the suspicious death of a 42-year-old man in Macroom, Co Cork yesterday.

A man has been arrested in connection with the suspicious death of a 42-year-old man in Macroom, Co Cork yesterday.

The man, in his late twenties, was arrested at around 7.45pm last night on suspicion of impeding a garda investigation into the death.

He is being held at Bandon Garda Station under section four of the Criminal Justice Act

It follows reports that a number of people were intimidated into not talking to Gardaí about the death of the man in Masseytown.

A post-mortem is due to be carried out this morning on the dead man, who has been named locally as Don Geasley.

Gardaí are trying to trace the last known movements of Mr Geasley who was found with serious head injuries.
