Former boxer Michael Watson - who suffered serious brain damage 12 years ago - has completed the London Marathon after more than six days.
Almost 12 years after his super-middleweight fight against Chris Eubank at White Hart Lane ended with Watson close to death, the former boxer was met at the finishing line of his epic journey across London by his one-time opponent.
Watson was in a coma for 40 days after the fight and has been battling to recover from severe brain damage ever since.
He has had six operations on his brain and it defies medical opinion that he is able to walk at all.
Watson’s recovery has been extraordinary but he still suffers from severe dizzy spells, left his wheelchair behind just last year and only has the full use of one leg.
Despite his debilitating condition, the 38-year-old began the London Marathon along with the thousands of other competitors last Sunday.
He has been raising money for the Brain and Spine Foundation and is expected to make around £150,000 (€217,000).
