Charlotte’s Web is a treat

You can’t go wrong with a talking pig – how we all loved Babe – or with yet another screen version of the charming E.B. White children’s classic.

The story has been faithfully adhered to – piglet Wilbur is befriended by spider (Roberts) and becomes a hero suitably spared the chop for chops – and while it doesn’t have the now-familiar animation it’s all the better for it.

Fanning plays the pig’s human owner, Buscemi makes an indecently evil rat and everybody-thing else pitches in for a gentle and always-interesting treat.
