Craig Bellamy’s solicitor has today insisted that the Wales and Newcastle star has not been charged with any offence following a weekend incident in Cardiff city centre.
And Graham Shear, of London firm Teacher Stern Selby, has also said that the 23-year-old striker has also yet to receive a summons after voluntarily speaking to South Wales Police on Tuesday afternoon.
The police have confirmed that a report on the incident has been sent to the Crown Prosecution Service for a decision on any further action.
Bellamy is in his home city preparing for Saturday’s Euro 2004 qualifier with Azerbaijan at the Millennium Stadium, and boss Mark Hughes now admits that he will have to assess the “physical and mental” state of the player before deciding whether he is picked for the international.
