So curious is this film that it deserves to succeed. That it succeeds only to some degree is a pity since the performances - particularly that of Brody - are uniformly excellent.
The story, which doesn't quite work, is that of a mental patient (Brody) who undergoes some pretty harrowing treatment and finds he can time-travel to the future - from l992 to 2007 - where he meets the unhappy Knightly … and investigates his own death.
Nothing is quite what it seems, intentionally or otherwise, and where the film shows its flaws is in the flow of the plotline which, anyway, tries too hard to turn things into a mind-twisting drama.
It's certainly unusual, but not all that unusual since Hollywood has recently journeyed into this territory of horror quite often.
