Family of murdered Vincent Ryan calls for 'end to the senseless violence'
The family of murdered Vincent Ryan are calling for an end to senseless killings on the streets of Dublin.
The 25-year-old was shot dead in Finglas last Monday.
He was the brother of the former leader of the Real IRA, Alan Ryan who was shot dead in 2012.
In the statement, the Ryan family refutes claims that Vincent was involved in the killing of David Byrne at the Regency Hotel in Dublin last month.
The family of Vincent Ryan would like to thank all of those who have contacted them or posted on social media offering their condolences and sympathy following the assassination of Vincent last Monday.
There has been much media commentary about Vincent since his death much of if false and misleading. It has been alleged that Vincent was driving a car previously owned by a drug dealer, Vincent purchased the car from a well known garage in the Dublin area, and we have provided the Garda with the purchase documents and the identity of the garage and asked them to investigate the matter.
Vincent just like any other citizen who purchases a car in a garage would not be aware of who the previous owners were.
It has also been alleged that Vincent was questioned in relation to the provision of AK 47’s used in the Regency Hotel attack, this allegation is totally without foundation.
Vincent was a staunch and honourable Republican and held his beliefs until his death. On his release from prison he did not report back to the IRA, and from that time has solely been concerned with building his business as a barber and creating a family life with his partner Kelly and new born baby Phoenix and had stepped aside from involvement in Republican activity.
Vincent will be buried on Tuesday following mass at Holy Trinity Church Donaghmeade, he will receive a traditional Republican family funeral. For the avoidance of any doubt he will not receive a military funeral. We would ask that the media and the State would allow us to bury him with honour and dignity.
The family calls for no retaliation and for an end to the senseless violence being carried out on our streets by drug gangs.
We are proud and honoured to have known and loved Vincent for his short life.
