A 16-year-old boy is in a critical condition in hospital after a helicopter has crashed into the Pacific Ocean off Hawaii.

Five people were on board when it came down near Pearl Harbor.

It has been suggested that the helicopter belongs to the company Genesis Aviation.

Genesis Aviation is known to run helicopter tours in the area.

The helicopter that crashed is a 1979 Bell 206B helicopter, known as a Jet Ranger.

Members of the public are reported to have jumped in to pull passengers to safety.

Tours to the nearby Pearl Harbor Memorial have been cancelled while an investigation is carried out.
