Roscommon hurler dies following short illness

GAA supporters and players alike have been paying tribute to Roscommon hurler Mickey Cunniffe who died at the age of 32 yesterday.

GAA supporters and players alike have been paying tribute to Roscommon hurler Mickey Cunniffe who died at the age of 32 yesterday.

He died in Beaumont hospital in Dublin after a short illness.

Cunniffe was a servant for many years for his club Four Roads, represented his county and won a Railway Cup medal with Connacht.

Just a few weeks ago Mickey captained the Four Roads club to Roscommon SHC success.

Mickey is survived by his wife Helena, parents Tom and Mary, and brothers, John and Noel.
