Online travel group Ebookers today reported that revenue nearly doubled to £18.2m (€26.5m) in the third quarter.The company which is listed on the Nasdaq saw its share price jump 4.7%
The group's loss after tax widened to £3m (€4.3m) from £2m (€2.9m) a year ago. "The Group saw strong sales in the quarter to Asia and Australia, including travellers to the Rugby World Cup," it said.
Ebookers,which was formerly known as Ebookers.com, has had an Irish operation since 1999. The group's principal activity is the operation of an on-line travel agency with websites in 11 countries, including Ireland.
The Group sells flights, hotels, car hire, travel insurance, packages and tours, cruise and other travel products.
Ebookers employs approximately 1,324 throughout Europe and 445 in India.
