Irish companies are being hit hard by absenteeism as millions of euro are lost from people ringing in sick.
According to the Small Firms Association, employees who are absent are costing businesses around €100m a year.
Sick employees were most prominent in the midlands and the north-east, with Fridays and Mondays being the worst days.
The Director of the Small Firms Association, Pat Delaney said it is a serious problem.
