Cork 0-10 Roscommon 1-9
John Hanley’s first-half goal gave Roscommon a deserved win at Pairc Ui Chaoimh today, but they had to withstand fierce Cork pressure in the closing minutes.
Leading by 1-2 to 0-4 at half-time, the Connacht champions appeared to be cruising to victory when they whipped over five unanswered points inside the opening 11 minutes of the second-half, to lead by six.
But Cork, inspired by the introduction of Philip Clifford and an impressive debut by hurling star Diarmuid O’Sullivan, came roaring back in the final quarter.
However, two late goal efforts from Kieran Murphy failed to find the target and Roscommon clung on for a win that extends their unbeaten away record in the league to 10 matches.
