Two men killed in Mayo and Cavan crashes

A man in his 30s has been killed in a car crash in Co Mayo.

A man in his 30s has been killed in a car crash in Co Mayo.

The man died when the car he was driving lost control and hit a wall on the Claremorris to Ballyhaunis Road at around 9pm last night.

He was the only person in the car at time time and no other vehicle was involved.

The road is currently closed while gardaí carry out a forensic examination of the scene. Diversions are in place.

Meanwhile in Co Cavan, a man in his 30s was killed in a two-car head-on collision on the Swanlinbar to Ballyconnell Road overnight.

The accident happened at around 3.30am at Derrynacreeve Cross.

Four people were injured, some of whom are said to be in a critical condition in hospital.

One other person, who was driving the second car, is said to be uninjured.
