The television dramatisation of the Bloody Sunday shootings has won a major award at the prestigious Berlin Film Festival.

The television dramatisation of the Bloody Sunday shootings has won a major award at the prestigious Berlin Film Festival.

The film has jointly won the Golden Bear award and earned praise from the judges for its ‘extraordinary authenticity’.

The filming of the production involved the Irish Film Board as well as Granada and Portman Film.

The 10-strong judging panel awarded the Golden Bear jointly to Bloody Sunday and a Japanese animated adventure film entitled ‘Spirited Away’.
