A man has died after setting himself on fire in a Siberian courthouse and a court official was also killed when the blaze engulfed the building.

Five other people were injured in today’s incident, in the town of Irbeiskoye, about 4,000kms east of Moscow said police.

Russian media quoted officials as saying the man set himself ablaze just before the court was to hear his appeal on a driving ban.

Russia has a terrible fire safety record, with buildings rarely equipped with fire escapes or extinguishers.
