Gardaí are launching an investigation following the discovery of the body of a man in County Meath.

Gardaí are launching an investigation following the discovery of the body of a man in County Meath.

The man's remains were found at Clowanstown at 2.30pm this afternoon in a river near the Dunshaughlin to Dunsany road.

The body is believed to that of a 56-year-old man reported missing last Thursday.

It remains at the scene, which is sealed off pending a technical examination.

The State Pathologist's office has been notified.
