Progressive Democrat leader, Mary Harney, is taking legal action against Magill magazine over an article published today.

The move was revealed at a PD policy launch on employment, where the party claimed that Labour’s employment proposals will cost almost 1,800 jobs, some present, some potential.

A spokesperson for Mrs Harney said the article, detailing alleged involvement with certain planning matters, is "false and highly defamatory".

Mrs Harney has already instructed her solicitors to proceed with legal proceedings. Tanaiste Harney refused to comment on the matter.
