Former UK deputy PM targeted by 'Celebrity Big Brother' producers
Britain's former Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott is top of the wish-list for producers of 'Celebrity Big Brother', it has emerged.
The 74-year-old, who last week lost a bid to be voted police commissioner in Humberside, is being targeted by show bosses who think his no-nonsense style would make for perfect viewing.
A source told the Daily Star newspaper: "'Celebrity Big Brother' would be the perfect platform for Lord Prescott to get his opinions across to the public on his terms. He doesn't suffer fools and that would make it 'must watch' TV.''
If he does take part, Prescott would be the fourth political figure to compete on the fly-on-the-wall show, following in the footsteps of Respect MP George Galloway, 58, Scottish socialist Tommy Sheridan, 48, and Sally Bercow, 42, the wife of the House of Commons speaker.
Prescott isn't the first person to be linked with the new series of the show.
Last month it was claimed 'Bat Out Of Hell' singer Meat Loaf was on producers' wish list.
A source said: "He's a huge name around the world so we're desperate to get him in the house.
"We know fans would love to see him and he would be TV gold. We want this series to be the best yet."
'Celebrity Big Brother' returns in January.
