AA Roadwatch is today advising motorists to take extreme care today with heavy rain forecast right across the country.

Between 30 and 60 millimetres of rain are forecast across today and tomorrow, with Munster and Connacht set to experience the worst of the weather.

Already, excess surface water has been reported on the M7 between the Nenagh West and Moneygall junctions this morning.

The Road Safety Authority says motorists should not attempt to drive through flooded areas and should allow extra stopping distance on slippy roads.
