Ireland's Fionnuala Britton has come fourth in the finals of the 10,000 metres at the European Athletics Championships.

The Wicklow runner led the field at the midway point, but ran out of steam and had to settle for fourth.

The championships come to a conclusion today in Helsinki.

Britton's focus will now switch to next month's Olympics.

"Wee have a month left to train. This is just going to make me more determined to do it better next time round," she said after the race.
