Gardaí in Dublin are continuing to question a 31-year-old man in connection with a fatal knife attack in the city early this morning.

A 28-year-old man died following the incident at an apartment at Cedarbrook Walk in the Cherry Orchard area of Ballyfermot.

A post mortem examination is taking place on the body of the 28-year-old man.

A second man is in a stable condition following emergency surgery at St James' Hospital.

The scene has been sealed off and members of the Garda Technical Bureau have begun their examinations while gardam conduct house-to-house inquiries.
