Glen Crowe has been called into the Republic of Ireland squad for tomorrow night’s friendly against Turkey at Lansdowne Road.

The Bohemians’ striker, who has won two caps, has been brought in by manager Brian Kerr as cover after Rotherham’s Alan Lee was ruled out with a knee injury.

Tottenham’s Gary Doherty will start up front with Clinton Morrison of Birmingham, who started in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Russia, to be rested.

Kerr will make at least six changes to the team which faced Russia. Definitely out are Shay Given, John O’Shea, Lee Carsley and captain Kenny Cunningham. Matt Holland is also struggling with an ankle injury.

Among the definite starters will be Nicky Colgan, Ian Harte, Mark Kinsella and Steve Finnan.

There is speculation that Damian Duff will play on the right side of midfield with David Connolly partnering Doherty up front.

Richard Dunne and Andy O’Brien will both get a chance to stake their claim alongside Gary Breen at the heart of the defence with Cunningham ruled out of next month’s vital final Euro 2004 qualifier in Switzerland.
