Newcastle today confirmed that Bolton have been given permission to talk to winger Laurent Robert.
However a move to the Reebok Stadium is not a foregone conclusion.
The 30-year-old Frenchman could be available for around £2million, although no deal has yet been agreed.
“We have given the player permission to talk to Bolton, but we have not agreed a deal with Bolton,” said chairman Freddy Shepherd.
Portsmouth boss Alain Perrin has also expressed an interest in Robert and it is understood that Pompey, who have completed the signing of his Magpies’ team-mate Andy O’Brien, will talk to him tomorrow.
