The Department of Justice has said it is unlikely to grant permission for Irish pubs to open at 6am to facilitate soccer fans who want to watch the World Cup finals next year.

Because of the time distance between Ireland and Japan/Korea, many of the games will be kicking off at around 7am.

Britain has already allowed pubs to open early, but the Irish Government has indicated that such a move will not be introduced here.
