Celtic Slipper on Classic trail
Celtic Slipper, who still holds an entry in the Darley Irish Oaks, is likely to have a smaller Classic on the agenda first.
A return trip to Italy is in order for the Peter Savill-owned and Ralph Beckett-trained filly, who easily won the Group Three Premio Dormello at San Siro in Milan last season before finishing fifth against colts in the Group One Gran Criterium.
However, her first run of the campaign was not much of a success as she was only seventh of nine behind Michita when a 7-2 joint-favourite for Goodwood’s Height of Fashion Stakes.
Nick Babington, Savill’s racing manager explained: “She has come out of the race well but may have been a little short of work – Ryan Moore said afterwards she just got a bit tired.
“She is in the Italian Oaks but has got to work again this week first. Otherwise there is a Group Two in Cologne.”
