Dáil set to take summer holidays next week until late September

The Dáil is planning to take almost ten weeks in summer holidays.

TDs will adjourn for the summer in a week's time, and won't return until September 27.

The slightly longer holiday is to allow an upgrade to the Dáil chamber - including a new sound system, and a new voting system which will allow TDs to officially abstain in votes for the first time.

The improvement works will cost around €690,000.
