The Justice Commission at the Conference of Religious of Ireland has called on the Government to rectify a wrong it claims the Budget inflicted on the country's poor.
In a document issued ahead of a plenary meeting of the social partners next Thursday, CORI spokesman Fr Sean Healy said the Government has not adjusted social welfare rates to compensate for inflation.
He added that it had also failed to honour its promise to prioritise an increase in rates if economic growth was higher than forecast.
