A car exploded in the southern Gaza town of Rafah after this evening , wounding at least eight people, Palestinian medical officials said.

A car exploded in the southern Gaza town of Rafah after this evening , wounding at least eight people, Palestinian medical officials said.

The cause of the blast wasn’t immediately clear, but witnesses said there was an Israeli warplane flying overhead at the time.

The Israeli army declined comment.

Israel has promised tough retaliation for a suicide bombing that killed five people on Monday in the coastal city of Netanya.

Officials have said targeted killing of militants from Islamic Jihad, the group that carried out the attack, and renewed airstrikes in Gaza were options being considered.
