There are hopes in the North that today's Apprentice Boys parade in Derry will pass peacefully.

The Bogside Residents Group called off a protest after the Parades Commission re-routed a feeder march in north Belfast.

In the past there has been serious violence in Derry linked to the annual Apprentice Boys parade but more recently negotiations with the Bogside residents have led to agreement.

The talks have been brokered by local business to lift the annual tensions.

The Apprentice Boys now organise a week’s events in Derry including a pageant.

A planned march through the Ardoyne area, which saw violence on July 12, has been re-routed by the Parades Commission.
