Moynahan is set to take a leap in class after connections decided to supplement him for the Darley Dewhurst Stakes on Saturday week.

The Paul Cole-trained colt was a winner at York’s Ebor meeting in August, beating Iguazu Falls who only narrowly came off second-best to the stable’s Somerville Tattersall Stakes winner, River Proud, last time.

Moynahan was also entered in Saturday’s Deloitte Autumn Stakes at Ascot but he will instead be added to the Newmarket Group One at a cost of £15,000.

“Moynahan is going straight to the Dewhurst and we will supplement him on Monday,” confirmed Cole’s son and assistant, Oliver.

“He’s come on in leaps and bounds since his last run – he has come on a lot for the run.

“He worked very well yesterday and although it is a step up, we have got good formlines through another horse.

“We think he is a good horse and in terms of ground, we would probably like it good or on the soft side of good.”

Moynahan finished fourth on his racecourse debut at Goodwood in July and is available at 33-1 with the sponsors for next year’s Stan James 2000 Guineas.
