The wife of a murdered Limerick bouncer came face to face with a man charged with her husband's killing today, almost three years after his death.
Alice Fitzgerald was at Limerick District Court this afternoon, where a 30-year-old UK national was charged with the murder of her husband Brian, who was shot dead outside his home in Corbally, Limerick, in November 2002.
James Martin Cahill, 292 Highfield Lane, Quintan, Birmingham, is charged with the murder of Brian Fitzgerald at Brookhaven Walk, Mill Road Corbally, Limerick on November 29, 2002.
The father of two was returning home form work at Doc's nightclub in the city, where he worked as head of security, when he was fatally injured.
Today at Limerick District Court, Detective Sargeant Seamus Nolan, gave evidence of arresting and charging Mr Cahill at Henry Street garda station.
The court heard that the 30-year-old said: "I understand it," in response to the charge.
Dressed in a red and white stripped polo shirt and navy trousers, Mr Cahill remained silent throughout the brief court hearing.
