The team behind animated band Gorillaz are furious after the group's second album Demon Days was discovered being sold on internet auction house eBay two weeks before the disc's release.

Gorillaz - created by Blur frontman Damon Albarn, acclaimed hip-hop producer Dan The Automator and artist Jamie Hewlett - first burst onto the scene in 2001 with their hit single Clint Eastwood.

Record company executives were shocked to discover an eBay user offering Demon Days.

A statement from the band says: "If we catch people selling our new album illegally on eBay we'll sue them until their eyes pop out."
