Kevin Ryan sees no reason why Palace Episode will not mature into a possible 2000 Guineas or Derby contender next term.
The two-year-old's battling victory in the Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster on Saturday crowned a remarkable season for Ryan after the Hambleton trainer tasted Group One success for the first time with Amadeus Wolf in the Middle Park Stakes three weeks ago.
Palace Episode showed reservoirs of stamina on Town Moor as the Machiavellian colt hit the mark again at the highest level, this time at the expense of some of racing's most powerful yards.
Ryan confirmed his star juvenile is fit and well after the race and will now be put away for the rest of the year.
"I'm delighted for the horse, he's a tough little thing and has deserved that," said Ryan.
"He ate up everything on Saturday night and has come out of the race really well - although he does know he's been in a race.
"That's it for him now and he'll be rested for the winter.
"There's nothing for him anyway, but even if there was I wouldn't run him."
Palace Episode's one-and-a-half-length success from Winged Cupid earned him quotes ranging from 25-1 to 33-1 for the 2000 Guineas, and 33-1 to 50-1 for the Vodafone Derby.
"He'll definitely get a mile and a half and we'll just have to see how he matures over the winter before we make any plans," added Ryan.
"He's a very good horse whose entitled to go for very good races.
"And if we think the Guineas or the Derby will be for him, than maybe that's where we'll end up."
