Cash-strapped Nottingham Forest have offered former England defender Des Walker a contract.
The 36-year-old, who made his name at The City Ground before leaving for Sampdoria in 1992, rejoined his old club on trial in the closing weeks of last season.
He did enough to persuade manager Paul Hart that he still has what it takes to make the grade in the First Division despite being released by Sheffield Wednesday 12 months ago.
Hart has offered Walker a deal and negotiations are ongoing.
