Union leaders say talks with the Government today will focus on the workings of the proposal that civil servants take a 12-day unpaid holiday instead of pay cuts.

Talks on plans to cut public pay by €1.3bn in the Budget resumed at Government Buildings this morning.

Union officials say there is a basis for an agreement on the table but a deal remains some way off.
