Shatter slams Lawlor's 'performance'

Alan Shatter has slammed Liam Lawlor's 'so-called performance' in the Dail earlier today.

The Fine Gael justice spokesperson said: "Some are viewing today's debate in the Dail as a theatrical event. In the usual superficial way serious political issues are examined, praise is being heaped on Liam Lawlor's so called performance as if he was an actor.

He continued: "Whilst there may have been an element of farce to today's proceedings, the real tragedy is Deputy's Lawlor total incapacity to recognise that his position as a member of the Dail is untenable, and that anyone with any sense of decency and honour would resign."

Mr Shatter added: "Assessment of performance should not distract from reality and the fact that his behaviour is viewed by many of those who voted for him as a betrayal of the trust they placed in him."
