Tens of thousands of Kashmiri Muslims were holding widespread protests in the Indian portion of Kashmir today, angered after two people were shot dead by government forces.

Tens of thousands of Kashmiri Muslims were holding widespread protests in the Indian portion of Kashmir today, angered after two people were shot dead by government forces.

Residents held protest marches after Friday noon prayers and clashed with security forces who tried to stop them, a police officer said.

A 28-year-old man was killed and two others injured when the police fired on rock-throwing protesters in southern town of Bijbehara, the officer said.

Thousands more joined in anti-India protests after the shooting incident, the officer said.
