More than 30 Nigerian men, who are the fathers of children qualifying for Irish citizenship, have accused the Department of Justice of breaking up their families.

Their partners have already been granted residency but most of the men now face deportation.

"We have done work, we are able-bodied and we can contribute to the economy," said one protester, Ahmed Yissau.

"There is a study that says Ireland needs over the next ten years 50,000 migrants to keep up the pace of the economy," he said.
