Kieren Fallon showed he has not lost any enthusiasm for the game when riding a 22-1 treble at Yarmouth this afternoon on the day before he officially loses his jockeys’ crown.
The Irishman was quick to find the winner’s enclosure when steering 15-8 favourite JR Stevenson to a half-length victory in the opening Sharp Minds Betfair Claiming Stakes.
He followed up on the Amanda Perrett-trained Westland (11-10 favourite) in the EBF Sharp Minds At Betfair Maiden Stakes, before again pleasing favourite-backers in the following race.
The Sharp Minds Betfair: Best Odds Selling Stakes saw Fallon hold off the late challenge of Zaffeu to land the spoils on River Of Diamonds (11-4 joint-favourite) by a short head.
Fallon goes into the final day of the season on 176 winners, 16 behind his great rival and new champion Frankie Dettori.
There was a sting in the tail for Alan Rutter after his winning ride on 3-1 shot Street Life in the Sharp Minds Betfair Handicap.
Although getting home by a cosy length and a quarter, he squeezed up the rails two furlongs from home, causing interference to the Joe Fanning-ridden Marias Magic, who eventually finished ninth.
The stewards found Rutter guilty of careless riding and suspended him for three days (November 16, 17 and 19).
