US Secretary of State to meet Israeli Prime Minister this week

US Secretary of State John Kerry says he will meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Germany this week to discuss escalating violence in the region.

At least five Israelis have been injured in a shooting at a bus station in the south of the country today, while yesterday four Palestinians died in the West Bank in shootings.

Four separate stabbings earlier this week have added to a month long spat of attacks by Palestinians, resulting in at least 34 Palestinians and eight Israelis being killed in total.

Mr Kerry is to meet with several heads of state in the Middle East this week, in a bid to calm the situation.
