The Irish Stock Exchange has reported a positive performance in 2004, with the ISEQ Index increasing by 26% during the year.

The Irish Stock Exchange has reported a positive performance in 2004, with the ISEQ Index increasing by 26% during the year.

The Stock Exchange said it outperformed the FTSE 100, the Eurostoxx 50, the CDAX and the Dow Jones Industrial Average in 2004.

Announcing the figures today, Stock Exchange chief executive Tom Health said: "We're pretty pleased with the outcome in 2004. On the domestic side, our index was up 26%, which is one of the best performances in the world.

"On our international side of the business, we became the biggest listing centre in the world for investment funds around last summer and we've become the biggest listing centre in Europe for asset-backed bonds."
