Charlie Swan is looking forward to saddling the in-form Rajik in the Irish Field St. Leger at the Curragh on Saturday.
The five-year-old has been enjoying an excellent run over the past couple of months, winning a competitive handicap at the Galway Festival before winning twice in Listed company.
Swan admits his charge has much more on his plate as he takes the big jump up to Group One company this weekend, but he feels it is too good an opportunity to pass up.
“He’ll go for the Irish Leger and he came out of Galway surprisingly well,” said Swan.
“We just thought that he’s won a nice bit of prize-money and we might never get the chance to go for a race like this with him again.
“He’s in such great form we might as well have a crack at it and see what happens.
“I wouldn’t be too worried about any rain as he’s actually run some good races on soft ground before.
“Obviously his best form is on top of the ground but he was only beaten a neck on heavy at Galway last year and he also ran well in Killarney on soft one day.
“Declan McDonogh will ride him again, so that has to be a positive as well.”
